To reform the country, DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo emphasized the importance of integrity and righteousness among geodetic engineers during the 27th South Luzon Area Assembly of Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines held on November 12, 2010 at the Avenue Plaza Hotel, Naga City.
In his message, he said that the real challenge is not how good a person is technically but on how he can put integrity in everything he does. According to Robredo, the values of geodetic engineers are at times put to test because they have clients who wanted to have an outcome favorable to them.
The two-day assembly focused on the theme “Facing the current and future challenges through technology development.” Secretary Robredo was the keynote speaker. Other guests include resource persons from the DENR and DAR who discussed about new technologies necessary for the work of geodetic engineers.
Topics discussed during the assembly include RA 9700 – CARPER Law – Issues and Concerns in Land Conversion; proposed Registry of Geodetic Engineering Consultants; Role of Deputized Geodetic Engineers in Mining Industry; Typhoon Preparedness – mapping and Forecasting; DENR-DAO 2007-29: Manual on Land Survey Procedures; Cadrays- Surveying Add on Software powered by Cadian and Myscad-Mapping Tools and TEchniques.
