DILG 5 celebrates with the people of San Andres, Catanduanes, as they inaugurated the School Building at Brgy Timbaan, San Andres, Catanduanes, on March 15, 2023.

The Municipality of San Andres has seven (7) beneficiary Barangays under the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP), comprising a total of eight (8 ) projects. It can be recalled that the Farm to Market Road of Brgy Carangag, San Andres, Catanduanes was the very first FY 2022 SBDP that reached its completion. Today, the remaining seven projects, namely: Construction of School Building of Barangay Timbaan and Barangay Carangag, Construction of Level III Potable Water Supply System of Barangay Datag, Rehabilitation/Upgrading of Level III Potable Water Supply System of Barangay Puting Baybay, Upgrading of Water System of Barangay Bislig, Concreting of Farm-to-Market Road of Barangay San Isidro and Barangay San Vicente have reached its completion making San Andres, Catanduanes the first LGU to complete all of its FY 2022 SBDP projects nationwide.

These were among the first LGUs across the country to prepare the necessary requirements leading to the early release of the Notice of Authority to Debit Account Issued (NADAI), which resulted in their early implementation. Each beneficiary barangay under FY SBDP 2022 received Php 4,000,000.00 to implement their priority projects to address development gaps.

The activity is led by DILG 5 Regional Director Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober, Jr CESO V, Assistant Regional Director Jhoaden G. Lucero, CESO V, Gov. Joseph C. Cua represented by Provincial Administrator Lemuel Surtida, and LGU San Andres Mayor Atty. Leo Z. Mendoza. It was also witnessed by the Punong Barangays and Barangay Officials from the seven beneficiary barangays.

39 out of 343 FY 2022 SBDP projects have been completed as of writing. The Department believes that through SBDP, more government units will achieve lasting peace and development.
