As the frontlines for peace and security in the region, DILG 5 Regional Director Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober, CESO V, extended his utmost gratitude during the conduct of the Pre-Work and Transformation Program for Former Rebels, Families, and Communities Planning Workshop for the Provinces of Camarines Sur and Sorsogon led by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) last August 29-31 and September 5-7, 2023, respectively.

With the increasing number of surrenderees from the region, RD Escober said that it is imperative for more rigorous planning to expedite the provision of reintegration packages to former rebels and to sustain the gains so far achieved in the fight to end insurgency in the Bicol.

Moreover, RD Escober highlighted the importance of lasting peace and secured communities wherein government agencies must cooperate in implementing various interventions toward the positive transformation of former rebels, their families, and the communities concerned.
