Geared towards enhancing the capability of the members of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), a one day seminar-workshop was conducted by BAC Chairman Henedina T. Gonzales.
Twenty Nine (29) BAC members from the regional and provincial office participated in the seminar-workshop held at the DILG R V Conference Hall on December 13, 2010.
The Republic Act 9184, otherwise known as the Government Procurement Act was passed into law and took effect on January 26, 2003. RA 9184 came to existence to standardize the procurement process, in effect avoiding confusion, ensuring transparency, accountability, equity, efficiency and economy in the government office.
However in implementing this IRR, some of its provisions were amended in 2009 to continuously improve and simplify the procurement process.
Since BAC members play a very crucial role in the implementation of RA 9184 and in the discharge of their duties, it is necessary that they be updated and must possess the technical expertise on the matter as provided for by the said seminar-workshop. – (AO IV Narcisa M. Claveron)
