Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 5 through the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) provided technical assistance to the National Movement for Young Legislators (NMYL) during the 2022 Simultaneous Regional and Provincial Reorganization and Elections held at the Avenue Hotel, Naga City on October 11, 2022.

DILG 5 Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) Chief Leandro S. Gigantoca, as authorized representative, served as the Chairperson of the NMYL Regional Committee on Elections alongside VM John Paul Lampig of the NMYL National Executive Committee and BM Jan Alberto, NMYL Regional Representative.

The NYML plays a vital role in the realization of the emerging strategic framework in the country. By and large, they are categorized as among the “Hope of the Father land” who possess the idealism, reservoir, energies, and talents that could be used for local development. Further, the youth are bound to stay in the mainstream of local governance work for the next ten years or more.

The activity united 107 young leaders aged 40 years and below from the provinces of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Masbate, and Sorsogon to exercise their right of suffrage towards the advancement of progressive ideals and visions of the youth and the people in general.
