peace caravan

     With the aim of “bringing the government closer to the people”, the local government unit of Mobo, through the initiative of Mayor Hon. Percival D. Castillo, hosted a Peace Caravan on January 23, 2015in coordination with the provincial government of Masbate, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Masbate and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

The activity was highlighted by the trun-over of the completed Pinamarbuhan-Holjogon-Tugawe road funded under the PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) fund.

The one-day activity was a convergence of different national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations and other stakeholders aimed to deliver basic services in several barangays. It was an opportunity for the people of Barangays Holjogon and Tugawe and nearby barangays of Sambulawan and Polot to avail of the services like distribution of relief goods by the Provincial Government of Masbate; distribution of seeds, fruit-bearing trees seedlings and organic fertilizers by the Provincial and Municipal Agriculture Office; medical services/immunization from the Municipal Health Office; marriage registration by the Municipal Civil Registrar; marriage counselling and mass wedding; free anti-rabies vaccination and deworming of large cattles administered by the Provincial Veterinary Office; feeding program by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office; blood typing by the Philippine Red Cross – Masbate Chapter; and distribution of school supplies by the OPAPP.

It was attended by OPAPP representatives, namely PAMANA Bicol-Quezon-Mindoro Area Manager Paul E. Escober, PAMANA Bicol Area Coordinator Christopher B. Azucena and staff; DILG OIC-Provincial Director Thelma T. Zaragoza, DILG Cluster Head Andres J. Ativo, Jr. and some DILG officers; Provincial Social Welfare & Development Officer Amy B. Danao representing Governor Rizalina Seachon-Lanete; Provincial Government PAMANA Focal Person Dr. Adonis C. Dilao; Provincial Agriculturist Cecilia F. Burgos; Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Wayne F. Laurio; and DepEd representative Bobby V. Abas.

Also present were some members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Mobo, teaching personnel of concerned schools, barangay officials and employees and civic groups such as the Kabalikat Civicom and PSG Masbate Mountain Trail Bikers together with the joint forces of Philippine National Police – Masbate PPO, Mobo Police Station and Philippine Army – Task Group Masbate. – (LGOO V Summer Hope Bulalaque-Aycardo)
