The Local Government Academy (LGA) with the assistance from European Union (EU) under the Project Strengthening LGRRCs as Harmonizing Mechanism for Effective Local Governance in the Philippines organized a 5-day Web Development Training Course for LGRRC IT Specialists last May 23-27, 2011. The training was conducted by K&SI Training Center at 4/F Suite 405 The Taipan Place, F. Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
The Information Technology Officers (ITOs) of DILG Regions 1 to 5, CAR, NCR and LGA were the participants for the 1st batch. The course content include open source web application that covers (5) modules, namely: a)Joomla (Content Management System); b)HTML (Hype Text Marked-up Language) + CSS (Cascading Style Sheet); c)PHP; d)Javascript; e)Database Concept/MySQL. Each module was discussed and several exercises were given to further enhance the trainee’s knowledge on how to create a website. Hence, at the end of training they are expected to assist in the development and enhancement of their respective LGRRC website.
As part of the requirement, the trainees presented their individual output which was critiqued and reviewed by the LGA representative. Moreover, a snapshot of the website was submitted to the Research and Policy Development Division of the Local Government Academy as a requisite for the completion of the training. – (Eden S.
