Representatives from the Local Government Academy’s SLGP National Project Management Office visited the municipalities of Tiwi, San Andres, San Miguel and the cities of Tabaco and Iriga to conduct project proposal assessment and site evaluation on April 25 – 28 of this year.

Projects of the selected LGUs were presented to the group for evaluation and the corresponding recommendations and some adjustments concerning project details, locations, ownership, contractual arrangements, and issues regarding real properties were provided.

Among the matters that need to be prioritized by the LGUs include the detailed Program of Work, corresponding resolutions to be adopted by the Sanggunians, opening of dedicated accounts with government banks to reflect the 20% counterpart.

The Municipality of San Andres, San Miguel, Catanduanes and the City of Iriga infrastructure projects consist of the development of Ecology Parks that will provide materials recovery, composting, recycling and livelihood facilities.

The City of Tabaco will utilize the SLGP grant for the construction of water treatment facilities and improvement of various Level II Water Systems in the five (5) barangays of San Miguel Island to cover the remaining 50% of the island population that still lacks access to safe potable water.

The Municipality of Tiwi proposes to construct a Livelihood and Training Center that will permanently serve as training and teaching site for the technical and vocational skills development of the community more particularly the out-of-school youth and the local industry entrepreneurs.
