Congratulations to DILG Region 5 for winning third place in the AVP contest on actions/initiatives/innovations of Regional Offices in response to COVID-19 initiated by DILG Central Office.

The DILG Region V’s entry is entitled, “Laom” which is a Bicol word for Hope. Laom provides a brief narrative of the region’s relentless efforts and showcases examples of the innovations and initiatives of the DILG Region V against COVID-19. This AVP shows various documentations on the immediate response of the Region, monitoring and validation of the compliance of local government units, massive IEC campaigns on the strict adherence to health protocols and the inter-agency collaboration and partnership of the Bicol Interagency Task Force.

It has been a tough year for the Bicol Region. Aside from the ongoing pandemic, the region has been heavily affected by the recent typhoons and flash floods.

Laom depicts the adaptability of the Bicolanos as we move forward to the New Normal.
