In support of the mission and objectives of the Regional Nutrition Committee as member agency, DILG R5 represented by Assistant Regional Director Jhoaden G. Lucero, CESO V, attended the Regional Culminating and Awarding Ceremony spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Bicol on August 8, 2022 at A and A Bed and Breakfast Function Hall, Legazpi City.
ARD Lucero delivered a brief inspirational message highlighting the importance of strengthening nutrition interventions and prioritizing nutrition as the country adapts to the ‘new normal.’ ARD Lucero also mentioned the strong partnership between NNC and DILG, urging the Local Government Units (LGUs) to invest, scale up, and sustain nutrition interventions for building resilient communities and recognizing the importance of the role of LGUs in implementing nutrition-related programs and services.
The Regional Culminating and Awarding Ceremony was also attended by NNC R5 Nutricion Officer III and OIC Marilyn C. Valeza, DILG RV LGOO V Grace S. Mago, LGOO II Shaina Nicole Muñoz, Bicol University Associate Professors Ruby Mendonez and Ma. Corazon R. Naz (Ret.), Children International Bicol Inc. (CIBI) Legazpi Program Manager Joey Echaluce, Nutrition Officer IV Mercy A. Morante, PDO Albay Tricia Barozo, Camarines Sur NDAP Chapter Melba T. Veracruz, CIBI members, and Legazpi City Health Office (CHO) members.
As the activity caps off the celebration of the Nutrition Month for 2022, the DILG will continuously support the NNC in its aims of identifying, monitoring, and evaluating nutrition problems in local communities to come up with efficient countermeasures.
