Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 5, through the Project Development Monitoring Unit (PDMU), conducted a functionality assessment of the FY 2020 Assistance to Municipalities (AM) project in the municipality of Milagros, Masbate on October 6, 2022.
The AM Program is a flagship program of the Department facilitated by the Office of the Project Development Services (OPDS) under Disaster Risk Reduction and Other Infrastructures. It aims to provide subsidy to municipalities to aid in the implementation of their priority programs and projects.
Under this program, Milagros, Masbate was granted Php 7.5 million for the purchase and installation of Wireless Video Security System and Communication Facilities which includes a total of 82 cameras distributed over 6 barangays namely, Bacolod, Poblacion West, Poblacion East, Calasuche, Cayabon, and Tawad. Barangay Tawad is the farthest among these barangays with an approximate distance of 4 kilometers from the Poblacion.
Prior to the project inspection, the PDMU team together with Milagros MLGOO Maryben M. Aguirre, Municipal Administrator Alfredo B. Revil, Municipal Engineer Job C. Dalanon, and MDRRMO Engineer Rommel R. Magbalon paid a courtesy visit to the Local Government Unit of Milagros. The courtesy visit also opened up discussions for the plans on the upcoming inauguration and the possibility of expanding the project.
The functionality assessment is part of DILG Region 5’s efforts in ensuring that the projects under its management conform with standards and are implemented and completed with quality.
