Eight DILG Region 5 personnel participate in the Operational Training for the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region 5 on June 17 to 25, 2022 at Hotel St. Ellis, Legazpi City, Albay.
PSA 5 spearheaded the activity in preparation for the 2022 CBMS nationwide rollout which is set to begin in August 2022. This second level training is attended by potential trainers from PSA, DICT, and DILG who will render technical assistance as Resource Persons during the third and fourth levels of the training. In attendance from DILG Region 5 are the CBMS Focal Persons from the Regional and Provincial Offices.
Usec. Claire Dennis S. Mapa, Ph.D., National Statistician and Civil Registrar General of PSA also graced the activity on June 23, 2022. He emphasized the vision of the national government in establishing updated database as an effective tool in targeting beneficiaries for social protection programs and for development planning purposes in the national and local levels.
As a member-agency of the CBMS Council, the DILG is mandated to assist PSA in the provision of capacity-building interventions to Local Government Units (LGUs) such as information dissemination and establishment of pool of trainers, among others.
With CBMS, DILG Region 5 envisions more responsive and engaged LGUs in the region in sustaining data-driven development towards the improved quality of life of Bicolanos.
