DILG Region V, in partnership with the Local Government Academy and Climate Change Commission, held the “Building Resilience, Empowering LGUs: Training Workshop on Formulating Enhanced Local Climate Change Action Plans ( eLCCAP) (Batch 1)” from August 5-9, 2024, at Lotus Blu Hotel, Legazpi City.

Participants included Planning and Development Coordinators (LPDC), Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers (LDRRMO), City/Municipal Agriculturists (C/MA), Environment and Natural Resources Officers (C/MENRO), Engineering Officers (C/MEO), and IT Specialists/GIS Mappers from ten LGUs in Albay, Catanduanes, and Masbate.

The lecture- workshop provided LGUs with comprehensive knowledge of climate change impact, mitigation, adaptation and technical skills for using scientific tools to formulate their respective Local Climate Change Action Plans (LCCAP). This initiative aims to ensure that all participating LGUs have produced their draft eLCCAPs by the end of the workshop whilst being capacitated in the process. It also serves as a learning journey for both LGUs and NGAs in the regional convergence program.

Resource Speakers includes Danielle Marie Torralba, Information Officer; Lourd Jaynel Salido Development Management Officer from the Climate Change Commission (CCC); Mary Kathleen Cristy Vibar, ELUPPD Division Chief from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development; and Weather Specialist Ruthie Pacala from DOST-PAGASA.

DILG Region V remains committed to providing effective, relevant, and high-quality learning interventions to LGUs.
