In response to the memorandum issued earlier this year regarding the regional conduct of the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2025 and the required submission of After-Activity Reports with Improvement Plans to the DND Central Office, DILG 5 conducted a virtual orientation webinar entitled “NSED Annexes Orientation” on May 16, 2025. The orientation, led by Mr. Gremil Alexis A. Naz, Chief of the Capacity Building and Training Section of the Office of Civil Defense Region V, tackled key aspects of NSED implementation—from pre-drill preparations to proper documentation and reporting procedures. Emphasis was placed on the importance of ensuring not only compliance but also the meaningful participation of communities in the simulation exercises, to strengthen disaster preparedness at the local level.
Moving forward, DILG Region 5 remains committed to supporting LGUs in fulfilling their disaster preparedness mandates. The regional office will continue to collaborate closely with OCD and other stakeholders to ensure that local government units are not only compliant but also genuinely ready to respond to emergencies. Through sustained capacity-building efforts and continued technical guidance, DILG Region 5 reaffirms its role in fostering a culture of safety and resilience across the Bicol Region.
