DILG Region 5 recently hosted its first-ever Suppliers’ Summit last August 13, 2024 at the regional office’s training hall.
Themed “Fostering and Strengthening Partnership with Suppliers in Government Procurement,” the summit served as an opportunity for interested suppliers to learn more about the agency’s processes relative to procurement and for the office to explain common pitfalls which may stall their progress to its vendors.
The event was opened by Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober, Jr., CESO V, Regional Director, who delivered his message of support. The participants were welcomed by Mr. Rico E. Gaurino, Chief Administrative Officer, while Ms. Ma. Ruthel P. Gigantoca, LGCDD Chief and current BAC Chairperson, gave an overview of the topics to be covered during the said talk.
Marking the beginning of the summit proper was a discussion on the procurement process and eligibility requirements by Atty. Camille Astrid O. Britanico. Thereafter, Mr. John Kevin N. Nuyda gave a refresher on the process of filling-out Requests for Quotation. Then, the GSS Chief, Ms. Maureen E. Malazarte explained the delivery and inspection process, as well as the supplier evaluation. Subsequently, OIC-Regional Accountant, Mr. Juniecel M. Fajardo clarified the payment process. And finally, the Regional Legal Officer, Atty. Magdalena A. Borbe-Mallari gave a discussion on green public procurement. The Suppliers’ Summit ended with a closing message by Assistant Regional Director, Jhoaden G. Lucero, EnP, MM, CESO IV.
