In celebration of Local Government Month, DILG R5 has embarked on an exciting initiative to bridge the gap between local government and the communities it serves. As part of the Local Government Month Calendar of Activities, the Department opened its doors to students, providing them with an opportunity to gain insight into local governance and the vital role that the Department plays in the region through Office Tour. This initiative kicked off on October 4, 2023, where select students and teachers from St. Agnes’ Academy, Legazpi City were welcomed into the premises of Regional Office.
Components of the activity include a guided walking tour, which presented a chance for the students to explore the facilities, meet DILG R5’s Regional Management Team and dedicated staff, as well as to gain insight into the mission, vision, goals and daily operations of the Department. This was also an avenue for engaging conversations regarding local government policies, initiatives and career opportunities.
DILG 5 Regional Director Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober Jr., during his interaction with the students, said that the Department recognizes the significance of community engagement and demonstrating local government processes. He also said that this activity paves the way for greater transparency, collaboration, and participation in local governance. The culminating activity held at the LGRRC Library was also graced with the presence of Assistant Regional Director Jhoaden G. Lucero, LGCDD Chief Ma. Ruthel P. Gigantoca, LGMED Chief Darlyn D. Ayende, Chief Administrative Officer Rico E. Gaurino, LGCDD Assistant Division Chief Mae G. Clemente and Ms. Maureen Malazarte of FAD.
This trailblazing activity marks the beginning of a month-long series of Open Office Tours, where the Department will be hosting weekly tours and offer participants a range of informative and engaging activities to facilitate meaningful interactions between DILG R5 and various stakeholders.
