DILG Region 5 through its Project Development Management Unit (PDMU) participated in the Provincial/Municipal/City Local Government Unit Workshop on the Localization of the Farm-to-Market Road Network Plan 2023-2028 led by the Department of Agriculture (DA) at Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City, on August 13-15, 2024.
This significant event aimed to create a National Network of Farm-to-Market Roads, facilitating faster and more efficient transportation of agricultural products from farmers to markets.
The event gathered DILG Region 5 PDMU represented by Engr IV Sasha T. Matias and 2 DILG Provincial Office Engineers, Local Government Units (LGUs), City/Municipal Engineers, Mapping Engineers, stakeholders from various government departments, and representatives from the farming community from the provinces of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur to discuss and develop strategies for the effective implementation of the Farm-to-Market Road Network Plan for 2023-2028.
The workshop was a direct response to the President’s State of the Nation Address last 2023. Following this address, the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Tourism (DOT) issued Joint Administrative Order No. 1, series of 2023. This order outlines the “Formulation, Implementation, and Updating of the National Network of Farm-to-Market Roads,” a collaborative effort to improve infrastructure and support the agricultural sector.
This collaboration and shared vision underscores the Department’s commitment to improving agricultural logistics and supporting Filipino farmers.
