In line with the government’s continuous efforts to strengthen local mechanisms in preventing and countering violent extremism, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office 5 in coordination with the Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism – Program Management Office (PCVE-PMO) conducted an online re-orientation session of the Early Warning, Prevention, and Response (EWPR) Module 1 on May 16, 2025.

The re-orientation was participated by representatives from the Regional and Provincial Training Teams with key partner agencies from the security sector including Philippine National Police (PNP) from both Regional and Provincial Offices, the 2nd and 9th Infantry Divisions (2ID and 9ID) and its operating units of the Philippine Army, as well as the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 5 (NICA 5). Also in attendance were representatives from the identified 110 priority barangays in Region 5 under the PCVE program implementation for 2025.

This initiative is part of the DILG’s on going capacity-building efforts to equip the security sector partners and Local Government Units (LGUs) with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively operationalize the continuous localization of National Action Plan on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (NAP-PCVE).

This will guide barangays to mobilize their resources, coordinate their responses to enhance the effectiveness of their response effort through the continuous setting up of the local EPWR mechanism. As a follow-through to this activity, the EWPR Module 2 Rollout is scheduled for implementation this 2nd-3rd Quarter of 2025.
