With the aim of strengthening the Local Sanggunian’s knowledge of the scope of their quasi-judicial functions, the DILG 5 conducted a capacity development training entitled “Strengthening the Knowledge and Capacity of Local Sanggunians in their Quasi-Judicial Functions” last October 20, 2023, at The Pepperland Hotel. Participants are the Local Legislative Bodies of the municipalities of Camalig and Sto. Domingo, Albay and Pilar, Sorsogon.

This event is one of the significant technical and capacity development assistance (TA/CAPDEV) being given under the EDUCATE component of the Bantay Korapsyon Program, established in 2018 to support the national government’s anti-corruption strategies. It featured resource persons, trainers, and experts who have curated resources to address the needs and challenges Local Sanggunians face.

Atty. Aiza Fiel Almendras, Former Region 7 Legal Officer, served as the Resource Speaker of the activity. Her expertise and guidance were invaluable in enhancing the learning experience and reinforcing the importance of the training for the participants.

DILG 5 Regional Director (RD) Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober Jr. was also in attendance for the event. He guided and supported the participants to significantly improve their ability to handle quasi-judicial matters with competence and fairness.
