The Development Academy of the Philippines – Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM) held an exploratory meeting with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 5 on May 20, 2025, at the LGRRC Library, DILG Regional Office 5, Legazpi City to discuss potential collaboration on localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) using Futures Thinking as a strategic framework.
The discussion focused on how DAP’s latest knowledge products which are developed by its pool of expert research fellows can inform and enhance DILG’s ongoing governance initiatives. These research outputs promote innovative and anticipatory approaches that can serve as essential resources for advancing governance and development initiatives.
DILG 5 RD Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober, Jr., CESO III, welcomed the initiative and emphasized the relevance of the collaboration. “Our partnership with DAP-GSPDM brings valuable insights to our continuous efforts in empowering local governments toward sustainable and inclusive development,” he remarked.
The meeting was attended by key personnel from the Regional Management Committee of DILG Region V. This exploratory meeting opened pathways for potential collaboration, including capacity-building initiatives and contextualization of research findings aimed at strengthening local governance in the Bicol Region.
This dialogue signals the beginning of a strategic partnership between DAP and DILG Region V, anchored on innovation, foresight, and a shared commitment to good governance and sustainable development.
