DILG Region 5 Director Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober, Jr, CESO V, presented an insightful discussion on the business environment of Region 5 during the Bicol Business Summit on July 12, 2024 at Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City.

The discussion highlighted the key results of the Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness Indicators of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). The Bicol Region is advancing in its goal of full automation in the implementation of the Electronic Business One Stop Shop (eBOSS) in the coming years.

Five Local Government Units (LGUs) from the region ranked among the top 20 in the Competitiveness Index nationwide. These are the Cities of Naga, Iriga, and Legazpi, the Provincial Government of Albay, and the Municipality of Bato, Catanduanes. Notably, the City of Iriga is a finalist for the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Most Business-Friendly LGUs Award.

To improve the performance of Local Government Units (LGUs), DILG Region 5 provides capacity-building activities and technical assistance to local functionaries to further enhance or improve their delivery of basic services to the communities they serve.
