Towards attaining sustainable peace and addressing the development gaps in the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas in the Bicol Region, the RTF V Task Force Katoninungan asin Kauswagan spearheaded the groundbreaking of the Construction of Local Access Road and other projects in Brgy. Jagna-an, San Jacinto, Masbate on Monday, October 11, 2021. The project is funded under the Support to Barangay Development Project (SBDP) of the national government in pursuit of EO70.

Present during the SBDP launching were DILG Undersecretary for Local Government Marlo L. Iringan, LEO70 PMO Head Assistant Director Rene Valera, BDP Action Officer for NTF-ELCAC Dir. Monico Batle, NTF Desk Officer for RV Richard Manrique, DILG V RD Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, 9ID Philippine Army Commander MGen Henry Robinson, Jr. represented by 903rd Infantry Brigade Commander Col Aldwine Almase and PNP PRO5 RD Jonnel Estomo represented by Chief Regional Staff PCol Jesus Rebua.

Also present were 2nd Infantry Batallion Commander Lt Col. Siegfried Felipe F. Awichen, PNP Masbate PD PCol Joriz Cantoria, DILG Masbate PD Ben Paul M. Naz, PLGU Masbate Executive Officer Ronnie Atanoso, Municipal Mayor of San Jacinto Hon. Ciceron Altajeros, and Brgy. Jagna-an PB Hon. Isagani L. Espinosa.

This project is part of the 164 priority projects for the 49 barangays of Camarines Norte, Masbate and Sorsogon, with an allocation of 20 Million per barangay, amounting to a total of 980 million worth of development projects for Bicol Region funded by the Support to Barangay Development Program for 2021, a program that aims to provide financial support for the priority projects and programs of barangays that have been identified to have issues and developmental gaps in their areas.

The groundbreaking was witnessed by the residents of Brgy. Jagna-an. The Barangay Development Program is part of the government’s efforts to provide access to quality government service for formerly neglected rural communities all over the country.
