Nine (9) Local Government Units (LGUs) in Bicol region were subjected to the CY 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) National Validation on August 30-31, 2022.
The CY 2022 SGLG: Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal is the first implementation of the most rigorous, prestigious, and coveted local governance performance award after the enactment of RA 11292 in 2019. This is the highest recognition given by the DILG to excellent and performing LGUs.
After a thorough assessment of all the LGUs in the Bicol Region, the following were validated, shortlisted, and considered as this year’s potential National SGLG Passers in the Philippines:
- Legazpi City, Albay
- Ligao City, Albay
- Iriga City, Camarines Sur
- Masbate City, Masbate
- Sorsogon City, Sorsogon
- Barcelona, Sorsogon
- Bulusan, Sorsogon
- Irosin, Sorsogon
- Pilar, Sorsogon
*Tabaco City is scheduled to be validated this September
The National Validating Team of CY 2022 SGLG are from the DILG BARMM headed by Director Fausiah Romancap-Abdula and Chief Abdulnazer Ugokan and Chief Johaina J. Abdullah assisted by DILG Region 5 SGLG Team composed of Provincial Focal Persons and LGMED technical staff headed by OIC Division Chief Darlyn D. Ayende and Assistant Division Chief Amaline R. Colina.
The team conducted documentary review, individual interviews, and on-site inspections to confirm and verify regional assessment results. After hours of review and validation, the team concluded their assessment results through an exit conference.
To be able to get the seal, LGUs need to pass all 10 governance areas namely: Financial Administration & Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection & Sensitivity; Safety, Peace and Order; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business Friendliness & Competitiveness; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and the Arts; and Youth Development.
The validated assessment results shall be presented to the Council of Good Local Governance (CGLG) for their final deliberation and confirmation. The announcement of results for the 2022 SGLG is scheduled on November 2022.
