The DILG Masbate Provincial Government Operations Office in connection with BFP and PNP, conducted a 3-day Disaster Resiliency Camp (WEmboree) under the Program Operation Listo of the Department at Umoroy Beach Resort, Bagacay, Mobo, Masbate.

WEmboree is a gathering of young people from different communities, academic institutions and organizations celebrating one goal- Changing the Mindset from ME to WE. This concept encourages young people to come together, actively engage, and inspire their peers and their respective communities to unite and become prime movers in nation-building. This will capacitate stakeholders to develop their noblest spiritual, moral, cultural, and social values, thus becoming responsible citizens and competent leaders of this country.

This Wemboree is set to invest in the capacity of civic engagement of the Masbateno youth in achieving collectively a just and humane society, good governance and a strong republic.

Masbate Province being one of the provinces always being damaged by Storms, Earthquakes, El Nino, etc.  will likely benefit from such activity. Masbatenos will be properly oriented and guided on things to do and to prepare whenever any disaster related incidents are to happen.

The objectives of the activity are as follows:

1. Promote and recognize the very essence of strong camaraderie among volunteer groups or individuals

2. Enable young people to engage at all levels in holistic activities while gaining both professional and recreational experiences

3. Inculcate in the hearts and minds of young Filipinos the importance of solidarity in pushing for societal reforms through making volunteerism their way of life resulting in good governance.

4. Inform, prepare and enjoin the Filipino youth in helping/volunteering in local government initiatives/projects in addressing the challenges of disaster risk reduction.
