Provincial Disaster Preparedness and Partnership Dialogue

As part of the DILG’s mandate under RA 10121 in ensuring LGU’s compliance with the requirements of institutionalization of DRRM Offices, monitoring establishment of Operation Centers and implementation of policy guidelines that will enforce community preparedness, last February 20-21, 2018 the DILG Provincial Office Catanduanes spearheaded the conduct of Provincial Disaster Preparedness and Partnership Dialogue held at Amenia Beach Resort, Palawig, San Andres, Catanduanes.

This was a two-day activity attended and participated in by the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs), the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers (MDRRMOs), the Sangguniang Bayan Member Committee on Disaster / Public Safety, and the Fire Marshall (FM) of the seven Eastern Seaboard LGUs of the province classified as exposed to high risks in flooding, landslide and typhoon areas. The seven municipalities were consisted of Bagamanoc, Baras, Bato, Gigmoto, Pandan, Panganiban, and Viga.

The general objective of the activity was to evaluate the implementation of the Listo Protocols as indicated in the manuals published by the Department and as well as to evaluate the level of preparedness of the LGU in times of disaster.

The activity provided an opportunity for an interfacing with DRRM key players as they evaluated and provided insights as to the extent with which our Department thrusts have reached the level of expectation of the communities in terms of disaster preparedness advocacy and other initiatives conducted.

Aside from it, the activity has also taken the opportunity to elect for the 2018 Catanduanes Federated DRRM Officers. Wherein, the DRRM Officer of Virac Ivanhoe V. Arcilla was elected as the President of the federation, Eusebio P. Valledor of Panganiban as the Vice-President, Edna Tomagan of Baras as the Secretary, David V. Villacorta of Bagamanoc as Treasurer,  Neil Francis Tuibeo of Viga as Auditor, Jeremy Manlangit of San Andres as MMO, for Business Managers they have Mary Ann Teves of San Miguel and Prince Ian Obo of Gigmoto. And lastly for the position of Board of Directors Jonathan Sales of Pandan, Engr. Domingo Bernal of Bato, and Gener Torzar of Caramoran was elected.
