As part of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM), the Provincial Government of Catanduanes held a four-day Catanduanes Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Summit from July 7-10, 2025, at the Provincial Capitol Dome. The DILG Catanduanes delegation actively participated in the summit, specifically on the third day, which focused on the Orientation on Allocation & Utilization of LDRRM Fund – Barangay LGUs.
The DILG Catanduanes team was led by Officer-in-Charge Cluster Head LGOO VII William T. Aldea, along with Program Manager LGOO VI Concordia O. Siatong, DRR Focal Person LGOO V Jessa T. Encarnacion, and the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs).
The orientation featured resource speakers from the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Region 5, EDUCO, and the Commission on Audit (COA). Officer-in-Charge Aldea also joined these experts as a panelist during the open forum. The panel provided crucial guidance and clarifications to the participants, particularly to Local DRRM Officers, Punong Barangays, and Barangay Secretaries and Treasurers, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the proper allocation and utilization of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (LDRRM) Fund.
DILG Catanduanes expresses support for the NDRM 2025 with the theme, “KUMIKILOS: Kayang Umaksyon ng Mamamayan, Isabuhay ang Kahandaan ng Bawat Isa para Maging Ligtas sa Oras ng Sakuna, para sa Kahandaan, Kaligtasan at Katatagan,” which underscores that disaster resilience is a shared responsibility, built on individual actions and collective efforts for community preparedness, safety, and stability.
