DILG Provincial Operations Office of Albay conducted a Provincial Orientation on the 2018 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on May 4, 2018 at Bicol Food Delights Function Hall, Legazpi City. The activity was attended by the Provincial Director, Cluster Team Leaders, City and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers, and Provincial Office technical staff.

Albay Provincial Director Arnel Renato L. Madrideo welcomed the participants and posed a challenge to the City and Municipal Local Operations Officers as there are new indicators to be used in the assessment for SGLG 2018. PD Madrideo then encouraged the participants to raise questions that would help them be clarified on the implementation of the SGLG and to have a smooth assessment of the LGUs.

LGMES Chief LGOO V Katrina Acuña presented the overview of the activity, focus areas of the assessment, and the implementation process. For this year’s SGLG, it has elevated the assessment criteria from 4+1 to All-in. This means that the LGU must pass all areas of: (1) Financial Administration, (2) Disaster Preparedness, (3) Social Protection, (4) Peace and Order, (5) Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, (6) Environmental Management, (7) Tourism, Culture and the Arts. SGLG 2018 All-in: Reaping the results of good governance symbolizes the integrity and good performance through continuing governance reform and sustained local development.

Moreover, LGOO V Acuña emphasized the indicators to be used for SGLG 2018 to guide the field officers in their preparation for the assessment. She also discussed the implementation schedule and key responsibilities of concerned participants and highlighted the need for the LGUs to be prepared to achieve SGLG Award.
