Technical personnel from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Albay, including Engrs. III Marc Jose Obo and Clint Borromeo, Engrs. II Simoun John Elmer Santidad and Esperanza Cuya-Bedar, and PEO II Engr. Randy Catura, conducted a vital inspection across 16 barangays in Oas, Albay. The barangays included Gumabao, Calpi, Banao, Tablon, Talisay, Pistola, San Juan, San Isidro, Ilaor Sur, Moroponros, San Miguel, Matambo, Bagsa, Maporong, Centro Poblacion, and Balogo.
This comprehensive activity focused on ensuring that emergency rescue vehicles, funded by the 2024 Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) – FALGU, are fully operational and ready to be deployed. These vehicles are critical in addressing medical emergencies, natural disasters, and other crises in the municipality. In tandem with this, the team also inspected the food assistance provided to each barangay, funded by the 2023 Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) – FALGU, ensuring that supplies meet the needs of the communities, especially during times of crisis.
The inspection’s impact extends beyond technical checks; it reinforces the community’s readiness to handle emergencies and sustain vulnerable populations through food distribution. The rescue vehicles are instrumental in reaching isolated areas during calamities, and the food assistance supports families most affected by economic or environmental disruptions
.
This initiative is part of the Local Government Support Fund – Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FA), a national program that helps local governments like Oas address priority concerns in disaster preparedness, social services, and infrastructure development. The LGSF-FALGU strengthens the ability of LGUs to respond swiftly and effectively to the immediate needs of their constituents, fostering more resilient communities. Through this, the barangays in Oas can better protect their residents and offer a stronger sense of security in times of uncertainty.
