The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tiwi has successfully completed the Rehabilitation of Farm-to-Market Road in Brgy. Joroan, marking a significant milestone in local infrastructure development. The project, funded by the FY 2023 Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP), was allocated ₱6,606,882.17 and has resulted in the construction of a 340 linear meters long, 2.5 meters wide Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) with an accompanying 340 linear meters of covered lined canal.
To ensure that the project met national standards and governance criteria, a final site inspection was conducted last 22 August 2024 by DILG Albay technical personnel Engineer III Clint Borromeo and PEO II Engr. Randy Catura, and Tiwi Municipal Engineer Eric Bustillo. Their collective expertise ensured that the project was completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
The newly rehabilitated road is expected to have a profound impact on the local community by improving access to markets and services, thereby boosting the local economy. The project aligns with the broader goals of the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP), which is a key initiative of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). Funded through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), the SBDP aims to alleviate poverty and promote development in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) and regions previously affected by communist conflicts.
The successful completion of this project in Brgy. Joroan underscores the importance of collaboration between local government units and national agencies. It also highlights the role of infrastructure development in driving socio-economic progress in rural areas.
