The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Sorsogon Provincial Operations Office in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) and City Agriculturist Office (CAO) took part in the conduct of Simultaneous Regional and Provincial Launching of the Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay “HAPAG” sa Barangay Project showcasing the community garden of Barangay Pamurayan, Sorsogon City headed by its Punong Barangay, Hon. Arles A. Janaban on Friday, June 23, 2023.
In attendance were the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Section (LGMES) Team: LGOO II Cristy M. Derilo, LGOO II Maica P. Valladolid, and LGOO II Juniecel M. Fajardo, APCO Roser L. Rebellon from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Mr. Gines Deniega from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG), Ms. Adeline J. Detera from the City Agriculturist Office (CAO) and via zoom (on-site) at their respective barangay community gardens were MLGOOs of DILG Sorsogon, Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Officials of the following barangays: (1) Barangay Macabari, Barcelona, Sorsogon headed by Hon. Furio, (4) Barangay Escuala, Casiguran, Sorsogon headed by Hon. Rolando B. Esmeria, (5) Barangay Tres Marias, Donsol, Sorsogon headed by Hon. The HAPAG sa Barangay Project was implemented in support to the thrusts of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., to address hunger and ensure food security in the country by encouraging the establishment of community gardens at the barangays wherein the communities will be encouraged to plant various fruits and vegetables. This activity aims to sustain the advocacy of the project and further promote active community participation and raise public awareness.
