The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Sorsogon under the supervision of Provincial Director Julius Rodel L. Cal-Ortiz, CESE and Cluster Head Rico E. Gaurino facilitated the planning formulation to enhance the Barangay Development Plans of 2020 Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) Target Barangays in the Province of Sorsogon last March 10-11 and 12-13, 2020 at Balay Sa Uma Bee Farm, San Roque, Bulusan, Sorsogon.

This was participated by ten (10) key barangay officials and stakeholders from the Barangay Development Council (BDC) and Barangay Peace and Order Council (BPOC) from ten (10) barangays of four (4) municipalities. Below is the specific clustering of barangays:

BATCH 1
Barcelona – Bgy. Mapapac
Juban – Bgy. Guruyan
Matnog – Bgy. Balocawe, Bariis, and Sinebaran

BATCH 2
Gubat – Bgy. Benguet
Matnog – Bgy. Bon-ot Big, Bon-ot Small, Cabagahan, Coron-coron

Representatives from NGAs like the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Education (DepEd), and Philippine National Police (PNP) were also invited to address issues of the barangays raised during the activity concerning their agencies which may be incorporated in the BDP outputs.

This activity is pursuant to the 2nd phase of implementation of the DILG MC No. 2019-169 geared towards empowering the community to explore available platforms of citizens participation to identify the governance and development gaps and needed government interventions. Further, this is to improve the capacity of the barangays in participative, evidence-based, and coherent development planning towards sustainable peace and development.
