Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) arrived in Legazpi City to lead a meaningful dialogue with Albay’s local government leaders and DILG Regional officials.
Secretary Remulla was welcomed by key regional leaders from the DILG Family, including DILG Regional Director Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober, Jr., CESO III; PNP Acting Regional Director PBGen Nestor C. Babagay, Jr.; BJMP Regional Director JSSUPT Elena B. Rocamora; BFP Regional Director FSSUPT Achilles M. Santiago; and NAPOLCOM Regional Director Atty. Manuel L. Pontanal. The SILG was joined by Undersecretary for Local Government Marlo L. Iringan, CESO III.
At the Provincial Capitol, Governor Noel E. Rosal, together with the PLGU department heads and personnel, warmly received the SILG.
The visit also featured a walkthrough of the LGU Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Capabilities, where the Provincial Government of Albay and select LGUs showcased their disaster response systems and equipment. Mr. Roderick P. Mendoza of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Mr. Eugene Escobar Head of the Research, Statistics, and Emergency Management Services (EMS), and Governor Noel E. Rosal led the presentations, highlighting programs such as the “911 Albay Province” initiative, emergency management services and other innovative mechanisms demonstrating the proactive strategies of the province.
In the interfacing with Albay local officials, the SILG provided insightful response and guidance to the concerns raised by the local officials.
A separate interfacing with Regional Directors, Assistant Regional Directors, and Provincial Directors of the DILG, PNP, BFP, BJMP, and NAPOLCOM was conducted.
This regional gathering not only recognized Albay’s commendable disaster preparedness efforts but also served as a strategic platform for strengthening collaboration among local governments and frontline agencies. Secretary Remulla reiterated the Department’s unwavering commitment to support LGUs through policy guidance, capacity building, and resource distribution to ensure the safety and resilience of communities nationwide.
