DILG R5, in partnership with the Local Government Academy (LGA), conducts the WEmboree: Changing the Mindset from Me to We, Fostering Commitment of Bicolano Youth on Disaster Risk-Reduction and Management-Climate Change Adaptation/Mitigation (DRRM-CCAM) on August 11, 2022 via Zoom platform.

“We envision our Bicolano youth to become the trailblazers of DRRM-CCAM through your involvement and engagement in the preparation of the BYDRRMP,” DILG 5 Regional Director Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III expressed in his inspirational message as conveyed by Assistant Regional Director Jhoaden G. Lucero, CESO V.

ARD Lucero also challenged the participants as she emphasized the Department’s aspirations and motivation for the young Bicolano leaders. “Kabataang Bicolano, tinatanggap nyo ba ang hamong maging DRRM-CCAM advocate sa inyong mga komunidad?” she asked.

The WEmboree is part of the capacity development program of the Department which aims to empower the Bicolano Youth by developing their awareness on DRRM-CCAM, orient them on the mechanisms where they can actively participate, and foster innovative thinking in the development of programs responsive to the needs of their fellow youth and other members of the community. The activity will also introduce DILG R5’s innovation on mainstreaming the disaster and climate concerns in the local development plans of the youth through the Barangay Youth Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Plan (BYDRRMP) which will be formulated by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).

The activity is participated in by the SK Federation Officers, SK Chairpersons, Local Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Officers (LDRRMOs), City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (C/MLGOOs), and other key LGU personnel from all the cities, municipalities, and barangays of Bicol region.
