DILG Region 5 held a two-day reorientation about Quality Assurance System (QAS) for Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committees (BDRRMC) on May 14-15, 2024. It was conducted over Zoom and streamed live on DILG Region 5’s Facebook page, garnering 13,000 views and more than 900 audience.

Aligned with the objectives of the Regional Convergence Program (RCP) under the Bicol LGRRC Multi-Stakeholders Advisory Council (MSAC) in partnership with Save the Children, the training aimed to refresh participants’ understanding of BDRRM Plans and their application while orienting newly-elected barangay officials with the formulation and processes of BDRRM, ensuring their active involvement in local governance and disaster response.

Pepito C. Romero, Training Coordinator of Save the Children Philippines, and Louis Jonas M. Lauraya, Chief of Policy Development and Planning Section at the Office of Civil Defense Region V, served as resource persons, focusing on key aspects of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).

Among the participants were DILG Field Officers, Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers, Punong Barangays, Secretaries, Sangguniang Kabataan, Kagawad on Women and Children, Committees on Environment, and People’s Organizations/Civil Society Organizations.
