On October 23, 2022, DILG Region 5 successfully launched BALANGIBOG, Bicol Local Governance Regional Resource Center’s Talk Show Series.

Balangibog is a Bicolano word which means “to make public” or “to announce”. This talk show was initiated in accordance with the Department’s continuous efforts in promoting greater awareness not just on DILG programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) but also on inter-agency initiatives essential to the operations and welfare of all concerned stakeholders and the general public.

For its Pilot Episode, the participating Barangay Officials and Local Government Unit (LGU) functionaries were enlightened by Dr. Anna Lynda T. Bellen on “The Gains of Vaccination, Overcoming Misinformation Towards Healing and Immunity.” Ms. Ma. Salvacion B. Macainag of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 5 and Ms. Maritess Quismorio and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 5 also stood in the spotlight during Balangibog’s Episode 2 entitled, “Unlocking the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Holistic Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic” to engage in a dialogue with the participants and mall-goers.

The said launching was held during the two-day celebration of the Local Government Month month dubbed as “Pagsulong II: Embracing the Challenges of COVID-19 Gearing Towards Recovery” on October 23-24, 2022 at Ayala Malls, Legazpi City.

Present in the first 2 episodes of Balangibog were select barangay officials and barangay health workers of Daraga and Legazpi City, Albay. The talk show was also broadcasted live via Zoom and DILG Region 5’s Facebook live reaching out to the 114 cities and municipalities of Bicol.

Through Balangibog, the Bicol LGRRC seeks to create a wider and more effective platform on knowledge sharing to sustain excellence in local governance through an informed and engaged citizenry.
