The Philippine National Police (PNP) spearheaded the conduct of the Unity Walk, Interfaith Rally and Peace Covenant Signing, which was simultaneously held nationwide last January 13, 2019. The activity brought together local candidates to promote awareness on the significance of a secured and fair elections (SAFE) and uphold civility during the campaign period.
In the province of Camarines Sur, the Unity Walk started at 6:00 AM routing from the boundary of Brgy. Palestina, Pili and Brgy. Del Rosario, Naga City to the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO), where the program was held. The event was participated by the delegates from the DILG Provincial Office headed by Provincial Director Melody E. Relucio, together with the participants from various national government agencies, such as the Philippine Army’s 9th Infantry Division, Bureau of Fire Protection and Commission on Elections (COMELEC). Also present were religious groups, civic and non-government organizations, and other political stakeholders.
Led by PSSUPT Roderico Aringo Roy, Jr., the newly installed CSPPO-Acting Provincial Director, the program started with ecumenical prayers from different religious leaders. It was followed by the conveying of usual messages from several election stakeholders, like COMELEC, PNP and AFP.
The covenant signing and symbolic dove release led by Hon. Luis R. Villafuerte, 3rd District Congressional post candidate, wrapped up the occassion as partaken by other aspirants of various local positions this coming May 2019 electoral exercise.
