A  Provincial Preparedness and Partnership Dialogue spearheaded by the DILG Camarines Sur Provincial Office was conducted on February 7-8, 2018 at Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City. Local DRRM practitioners and stakeholders evaluated the implementation of the Listo Protocols as indicated in the manuals published by the Department for several end-users, the LCEs, MLGOOs, COPs and FMs.

The activity convened the DRRM practitioners and stakeholders in selected LGUs within MRB and Eastern Seaboard classified as exposed to high risks in flooding, landslide and typhoon prone areas.

Participating LGUs in the activity consisted of 9 municipalities in the Major River Basin namely Baao, Bula, Canaman, Calabanga, Camaligan, Libmanan, Milaor, Minalabac, Sipocot  and  3 municipalities in the Eastern Seaboard of Camarines Sur particularly Caramoan, Garchitorena and Siruma, which were all represented by the following: the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer, Municipal Fire Marshalls, Ciefs of Police and the Sanggunian Bayan Chairman of the Committee on Environment.

The activity provided an opportunity for interfacing between DRRM key players, wherein they assessed and provided insights to the extent with which the DILG’s thrusts have reached the level of expectations of the communities in terms of disaster preparedness advocacy and other initiatives conducted.

Given the current need to adapt to and prepare for the impact of various calamities particularly typhoons which frequent the province, the activity proved to be a most effective way to engage all the participants to truly appreciate the value of a dialogue to identify areas for improvement and collaboration.
