On July 10, 2025, the DILG Sorsogon Provincial Office, through the Local Government Capacity Development Section (LGCDS), successfully conducted the Provincial Orientation on the Newly-Elected Officials Performing Leadership for Uplifting Service (NEO PLUS) at the National Government Center, Capitol Compound, Sorsogon City.
The event gathered City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (C/MLGOOs), Local Planning and Development Coordinators (LPDCs), and key LGU representatives for an in-depth learning session on the flagship capacity development program of the DILG and LGA. The orientation focused on empowering newly-elected officials to lead with vision, innovate local governance structures, and deliver more responsive and inclusive services to their constituents.
DILG Sorsogon Provincial Director Arnel Renato L. Madrideo personally led the charge, providing expert technical guidance on the preparation of the State of Local Governance Summary (SLG Summary)—a critical reference in conducting Executive Briefings for incoming local leaders.
Dynamic sessions were facilitated by LGOO V Sheena G. Cerillo and LGOO II Aldrin Jovi B. Gallanosa, who shared comprehensive insights on the NEO PLUS Program overview, how to conduct Executive Briefings, and the use of essential templates and tools including the SLG Summary, LGU Canvass, and the Help Board—designed to support LGUs in crafting sound, data-informed governance strategies.
The activity underscored the power of partnership and proactive orientation in aligning the goals of the DILG, LGA, and local governments. With strengthened collaboration and a unified approach, the NEO PLUS Program continues to pave the way for a more capable, accountable, and service-driven local governance across the province and beyond.
